The Sequim PC Users Group is a 501 (c3) organization that is registered with Microsoft as a computer refurbisher. This means that SPCUG can purchase Operating System and Office software from Microsoft and install it in computers the SPCUG refurbishes. SPCUG takes computers that are donated to it and thoroughly checks the hardware and upgrades it to insure that the software we install will work properly.
When we are finished with refurbishing a computer we give it to people living on the North Olympic Peninsula that have been identified by one of several organizations that help disadvantaged members of the community. Organizations such as First Step, Behavioral Health, Veterans Groups, the schools K-12, and Habitat for Humanity to name a few. We have donated more than 560 computers in a little over the last five years.
This work is supported by volunteers, club dues and computer donations from members of the community and before he closed his business the local electronic recycler. There are about ten members of the club that donate more than 20 hours every four weeks working on these computers.
